A lot of fun was had over one and a half days as Jaret and his father, Gary, joined us for a whisky tour around the Spirit of Speyside Festival. They drunk some fantastic whiskies along the way and had some fun in the process. All our Scotch whisky tours can be tailored to suit your tastes and interests. We also stopped off at the Highlander Inn at Craigellachie where Jaret and Gary had some amazing old drams from Pittyvaich, Tamnavulin and a special Islay Cask finished Balvenie. There are many symbols of Scotland such as Highland Cows, thistles, Victorian railway bridges, mountains, deer, stunning white sandy beaches to name a few but arguably the two most recognised are whisky and golf. Scotland is known as the “home of golf” and thousands of visitors flock to the Old Course at St Andrews each year on a golfing pilgrimage to set foot on the sacred “Swilken Bridge”. Many of the world’s golfers will also have a love of the golden nectar Scotland has in abundance, whisky or whiskey depending on where you reside. At High Spirits Tours, we love to combine these pastimes. We can design a fantastic bespoke tour which will explore the Kingdom of Fife and include St Andrews and some of Scotland’s finest distilleries on the itinerary or simply put together a whole of Scotland golfing and whisky tasting trip to remember.
We would love to welcome you and ensure you leave relaxed and truly unwound. We are here to ensure you have a memorable trip which runs smoothly and causes you absolutely no stress.
At High Spirits Tours, we ahve already started our 2019 adventures in fantastic style. Some happy Welshmen, some not so happy Scots and sole Canadian asked us to take them to the Scottish Highlands, Perthshire and Fife after the 6 Nations rugby game between Wales and Scotland. They made the most of their trip to Scotland by extending their stay by a couple of days and visiting some whisky distilleries, Kingsbarns and Blair Athol and have a fantastic gin experience at Persie Gin near Blairgowrie. The highlight for many was the tour of St Andrews Old Course. The whole tour, tailor-made by ourselves was very much appreciated by our guests and we were happy they were happy!
Why not take a look at our website and see if we can tempt you into a similar adventure. We aim to enusre that you will enjoy it as much as our rugby fans did!

A big Thank You! to Ken and Marion from Calgary, Alberta, Canada who found me and got a whisky tour in the beautiful East Highlands and Speyside. What is there not to like to go round Scotch distilleries on a frosty, crisp, winter’s morning in North Scotland? We made visits to the fruity, sherry-deliciousness of GlenDronach followed by a drive over to Speyside in the winter sun. We then stopped off for some great Cullen Skink (smoked haddock chowder) and followed that up with a comprehensive tour of the Aberlour Distillery and the space-age, Macallan. Marion had never had whisky before and Ken thought we may have created a monster as she loved the warming, malty goodness the distilleries were giving out. They loved the difference between the distilleries from small to medium to large! All in, we had a great day and their custom was greatly appreciated. Hope to see you again soon! Safe journey home!
A great, if damp, few days with Wayne from Taiwan who was keen to discover the secret malts of Aberdeenshire. Wayne had been on business in London and visiting his friend in Edinburgh and at the last minute he thought he would search for a Scottish whisky tour and he found High Spirits Tours. He booked our private tour “Aberdeenshire Secret Malts – Whisky Tour” and off we went in the misty, dreich day! On such a day, what should you do? Well pop in to:
Glen Garioch Distillery
Royal Lochnagar Distillery
and a visit to Brewdog Brewery for good measure!
Just shows that even though the days are shorter and winter is setting in there is always time to find hopping on a whisky tour! 😉
At High Spirits Tours, we can offer a fabulous Christmas gift this year! We have vouchers available for the loved ones in your life who might be interested in a whisky tour, Scottish golf tour, a bespoke/ tailored tour of Scotland or even a Morgan classic car hire. The gift vouchers are available in denominations of £10, £20, £50, £100, £200 and £500. All you have to do is fire us off an email with your request and we will send you an order and the vouchers once payment is cleared. They will last for 12 months from the date of issue. Make someone’s Christmas with this special gift, the gift of travel and discovery.
Many Thanks to Aleksander and his partner and their parents for choosing us for their alcoholic tour of Aberdeenshire. Rather than a straightforward whisky tour Aleksander wanted a more bespoke tour. He wanted gin, whisky and beer! We jumped at the chance and booked them on some brilliant tours in Balmenach Distillery (Caorunn Gin), GlenDronach Distillery and Brewdog brewery. Although the weather was cold and sometimes wet we still braved the elements and tasted our way round Aberdeenshire. We even managed to meet Hedwig, the Snowy Owl star of the Harry Potter films! He was visiting Brewdog’s Halloween party! 🙂
It shows that anything can happen on a day out with High Spirits Tours!
I can honestly say I am truly grateful for the incredibly kind reviews I have so far received from people from all areas of the world who have come to visit Scotland and have paid hard-earned cash to use me as their tour operator for their visit.
I have been used for days out for couples, whisky tours (or whiskey tours :-)), Speyside whisky tours, Highland whisky tours, island hopping tours, Scottish Highlands tours, tailor-made Scottish tour, gin tours…. the list can go on! These tours have been special for me for many reasons too. I have left the corporate world behind and have been reawakened to my own little country poking out into the Atlantic Ocean! People are so interested in our history, culture, people and of course our fine spirit! I have even been told by French guests that it is, in fact, possible to get excellent food and wine in Scotland. This is probably my proudest moment! 🙂
My favourite season is now here. Autumn/ fall, golden and crimson with crisp, bright mornings is one of the best times to visit Scotland for the light and colour. I have great heating in the van as well as air-conditioning, so we can still have some amazing tours in the cooler months. Contact us if you would love a warming dram tour in autumn or winter (as the weather will permit) we will get on the road to enjoy Scotland at all times.
As always we are available for your Scottish tours and tailor-made holidays. We will be happy to quote you for your Scottish, bespoke package.
We hope to welcome you soon!

Whether you’re a staunch fan of “a wee dram” or simply want to discover more about what is arguably Scotland’s most famous export, whisky distillery tours are always a treat.
Many Scottish distilleries boast amazing histories, as well as use a variety of highly individualised techniques and processes to create their distinctive malts.
Take a look below to discover more about five of the most intriguing and well-known distilleries in Scotland, as well as details of the tours you can take to discover more and enjoy some exceptional sampling.
Can’t Decide? View All Our Tours Here:
Included as part of the Highland Whisky Enthusiasts Discover Tour, the Glenmorangie distillery has been producing premium single malt whisky for over 150 years. Created in Scotland’s tallest stills and skilfully matured in premium casks, the smooth, complex flavour is a perennial favourite. The distillery is particularly regarded for its use of casks (wood), as the whisky is matured first in ex-bourbon casks, then in ex-wine casks. This process adds additional notes to the final taste.
An absolute “must visit”, the Ardberg Distillery forms part of the popular Islay Whisky Enthusiasts Discovery Tour. If you crave award-winning whisky, Ardbeg is the place to go. In the past few years, the whisky has won a range of significant accolades, including World Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Single Malt. Phenolic malt and soft water from the distillery’s own supply are thought to be part of the secret behind Ardberg’s remarkable flavour, which is a firm favourite with whisky lovers across the globe.
The Speyside lucky dip whisky tour is a golden opportunity to enjoy a selection of different distillery experiences in the Speyside area. When it comes to distillery density, Speyside probably comes close to the top of the pile! Home to well-known names such as Aberlour, Benrowmach, Cragganmore and Glen Moray distilleries, there are plenty of opportunities to try some of the best malts out there! Four different distilleries are picked at random to form the basis of the tour, so whisky lovers will benefit from an element of surprise in their tour destinations!

The Isle of Mull and the island of Iona are the location for the unforgettable Magical Mull Discovery tour, which includes a visit to Tobermory distillery. One of the longest trading commercial distilleries in Scotland, Tobermory distillery is located on the Island of Mull. The distillery boasts two single malts, each with a markedly different flavour. Whether you prefer a fruity malt or long for a smoky, more tangy choice, the Tobermory distillery won’t disappoint.

The Luxury North Coast 500 tour is perfect for visitors who want to explore the Balblair distillery in more detail. Established in 1790, the distillery prides itself on perfect maturation times and the production of award-winning whisky that is beautifully crafted by a highly skilled and dedicated team.
Tara and John from Washington D.C. decided to visit Scotland and mid-vacation took some time out to chill out and let someone else take the strain and drink some great Scotch! We whisked them off to the heart of Speyside to take in the atmosphere of Glenlivet, Glenfarclas and The Macallan. They made the whisky distillery visits part of their holiday in Scotland. We were honoured that they selected High Spirits Tours for their Speyside whisky tour. It wasn’t only the Scotch that took their breaths away, the Cairngorm scenery also got them clicking away on their cameras.
Thanks again to Tara and John for making our day out fun too. Oh, and thanks for lunch too! 😉
Many Thanks to Mehmet and friends for choosing us for a whisky day trip in the Scottish Highlands. The guys were up here as one of them was getting married and they made a getaway to beautiful Dornoch and Embo. Always one of my favourite areas to visit. We had a great day and even latecomer Steffen managed to catch up on the whisky tour frivolities. Hopefully, you guys will come back and join us again.
Big thanks to the folks at Dalmore, Glenmorangie and Clynelish for making the day’s tours and tastings so special.
Virginie decided to book a special private tour in Scotland to treat her husband, Fabrice, for a special 50th Birthday trip. Fabrice had always wanted to visit Scotland and was interested in our national drink! He was not disappointed with our fabulous whisky tour of the Edradour distillery in beautiful Perthshire. We made our way out west visiting beautiful Glenfinnan and sampling some of the best seafood anywhere at the Kishorn Seafood Bar. After an enjoyable night in Inverness, they had a relaxing tour through Glen Coe, we made our way South again to end in Edinburgh. Thanks to you both for a fun tour and enjoy the whisky! 🙂
Autumn/ Fall will soon be upon us! I was thinking I need to look out my woolen scarf and take out “Morag the silver Morgan”! As part of their trip, we were honoured to take them for 3 days of Highland tours. They fitted a lot into the 3 days getting to the summit of both Cairngorm and Glencoe and taking an informative hike at the top of Cairngorm. They visited Plodda Falls, Urquhart Castle, Culloden Battlefields and Clava Cairns and managed to squeeze in a visit to Tomatin whisky distillery along the way.

Sam and his father, Shane, booked a Speyside Lucky Dip whisky tour and were treated to some great whiskies and gins and the sun shone the whole trip. Thanks to these guys for making the tours so much fun and good luck to Sam in his career in banking. We travelled from Edinburgh with a stop off at the Persie Gin distillery in Glenshee. We then travelled through the beautiful landscape of Glenshee and Glen Cluny stopping off in Braemar. Once the guys had settled into their B&B accommodation we enjoyed a meal and some fine whiskies at the Mash Tun in Aberlour. The whisky tour included tours of Glenfiddich, Cardhu, The Macallan and Glenfarclas. The guys enjoyed the distillery tours and also the tastings provided by each distillery before I return to Edinburgh through beautiful Perthshire.
Thanks guys, for such an entertaining trip and thanks for choosing High Spirits Tours. We hope you enjoyed your experience and will provide you with lots of memories. Haste Ye Back!
