Day 1 – Meet in Aberdeen we make our way North to spend some time at the farm distilleries of Glen Garioch and GlenDronach. These small distilleries make some stunning whiskies, proving small in stature does not mean, small in flavour! Glen Garioch is a labour-intensive distillery that harks back to days of old! The 15-year old Glen Garioch is a favourite! GlenDronach produces predominantly sherry-casked whiskies which are a delight on the palate. The latest 12 and 15-year old batches are proving popular with our guests! Late afternoon we will focus our attention on beer and in particular the Brewdog brewery in Ellon. It is a quirky, funky place and popular with the locals. We will have a fun tour around the facility and get to taste the finished product too! Accommodation will be at a good standard of local hotel (3* level). Standard accommodation is included in the price. It is possible to request a higher standard of accommodation of your choice at the booking stage.
Day 2 – For Day 2 we make our way into the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park with frequent stops at various beautiful locations, many with historical significance. The two distilleries visited today are Royal Lochnagar beside Balmoral Castle and Fettercairn (summer only). Both of these distilleries are small farm style distilleries with the idyllic Royal Lochnagar having had royal connections back in Victorian times when Queen Victoria visited in 1848. Moving on to Fettercairn distillery set amongst lush, fertile farmland often surrounded by golden barley fields in Summer. A visit to the peaceful area of Glenesk is a joy. We will also visit the Victorian villages of Fettercairn and Edzell with a visit to Edzell Castle and Gardens before making our way back to Aberdeen city.
